Happy Spring! And various and sundry other holidays. It's been an awesome couple of weeks from a fannish perspective and I feel a strong desire to share some of my flailings.

1. Flail the first: Muskrat Jamboree last weekend was awesome. I haven't gotten to do a con report, but it was really lovely to see so many awesome fangrrls, and attend some really awesome panels. The vid show was probably the highlight of the con for me (I ♥ vids!) but a close second was drlense and kristiinthedark's Supernatural panel. drlense's squee and enthusiasm ramped up the whole room (she taught us an SPN flail song! we sang it!) to bring about what was the most fun panel of the weekend for me. It reminded me how much I love the brother dynamic of Sam and Dean (because it's Buffy and Dawn! Sam's the mystical key to the apocalypse! Dean will do anything to keep him safe! He'll die for him! etc.), and how good the writing is, and how much I really wanted to watch the entire show from start to present, because I've definitely missed some canon and I haven't been following it as much as I would have liked lately. So this week, I downloaded episodes 1-12 of the current season and am now working my way through them, and loving every minute of it, which brings me to:


2. I am totally digging the Dean/Castiel. Oh hai, this is Misha Collins.

   Castiel tells Dean that he was the one who gripped Dean tight and raised him from Perdition. Which really just makes me want to say: that's what she said.
   
   Rec: dsudis's There's a Design. LOVE. There were several times during the SPN panel when I would think of some point I wanted to raise about the show, only to realize it came from Dira's fic, not the show itself. I so love when a fic is strong enough to get itself that thoroughly intertwined with my own persnal canon. Perfectly captures Castiel's non-human otherness so beautifully, but also makes their relationship believable. ♥ ♥ ♥
   
   Ps. cimness's Castiel/Dean primer is very handy if you don't know SPN but want an overview... I love that I got this link from phineasjones. She is so supportive of the flail, even in unfamiliar territory. ♥


3. Flail the third: I just got Beyonce's I Am... Sasha Fierce for ma birthday and finally got to listen to it today. ♥ The first disc is the Castiel/Dean playlist of my heart. Starting with the fittingly titled "If I Were A Boy," (Castiel POV, obvs), it moves swifly through "Halo" (baby, I can feel your halo / pray it won't fade away), to "Ave Maria" (IKR! I found heaven on earth / you are my last, my first). It's awesome. Disc 2, however, is one hundred percent Merlin/Arthur. "Single Ladies" is a lovely Merlin ditty (I need no permission, did I mention?) to taunt Arthur with, maybe a nice Merlin & Lancelot/Gwen/Morgana/Will etc. montage... followed by "Diva" for Arthur. Beyonce + fandom = win.

   This picture perfectly captures everything that I want to say about Merlin right now: I don't care how shaggy and weird the unicorn looks, I love this show. How did they make it look like not just a fake unicorn horn, but a fake horse? idek. But I love every single everything of this show, and there is so much awesome fic, dudes. Since it's a Sunday night I should probably rec you some hot pwp goodness to make Monday not so bad.

5. Aaaand rps brings me to bandom. So. This week is my two year bandomversary. It's been two full years since the last Muskrat Jamboree, which led me to pimp myself into bandom by following various links from a post from misspamela. My Delicious note for that link, dated April 8, 2007: Bandslash. Fall Out Boy. ... somebody save me, please? *whimpers*... it was all over from there. Just a month later I was reading Frog!fic, sex worker AUs, crossdressing Gerard, and of course, the usual patd/fob convience store AU threesome.
   
   And my current bandom flail is for disarm-d's Brendon Urie: space age sex slave AU, Call It Home. Brendon/Spencer otp ftw, baby.
   

I wanted to also flail about the Easter special Dr. Who episode, the season finale of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (omg FLAIL), Buffy Season 8 (just read Wolves at the Gate!), and how much I love my kitties and stuff, but it's bedtime, so I'll wrap with a poll.
