Ramblings and Warnings Policy of Doom...
Argh - over a month without my computer - I didn't know I could survive so long! One day I'm going to end up killing it completely... A new chapter of Killing Moon is coming - I just need to get my backside in gear and get back into writing after the enforced hiatus. On that note, if anyone's got any fluffy/kinky prompts...I need to write/draw something more upbeat and the muse is unwilling!
Right - once again I come to the warnings issue. The current great warnings debate of doom has been interesting (if very often infuriating). This is my attempt to make some kind of specific warning policy for myself and anyone who might stumble on my stuff. I should be able to apply it to both fic and art.
If you have a specific trigger and want to be sure a fic doesn’t contain it, please PM me, especially if that trigger falls into the grey areas mentioned below.
On LJ - unless posting in a community with specific warning requirements - these are the things I will warn for (with the following caveats):
*On screen or explicitly mentioned. The threat of these - either implicit or explicit - may still be in the story.
**If the two characters are the same age, I may not warn unless they’re drastically underage, ie. Pre-Time-skip Naruto/Sasuke (12-13) would be warned for, HBP/DH-era Harry/Draco (16-17) wouldn’t.
***I will warn for realistically depicted RL-type SI and eating disorders, however, just to grab two examples, a self-inflicted injury or induced vomiting as one-off, practicality-driven events could still be in the story.
****By ‘Gore’, I mean more than a bit of blood. ;)
*****Only for POV characters or characters very close to the POV character. Unless a fic is labelled Fluff or PWP, it may have deaths in it.
I will try to warn for/advertise specific kinks if I know I’m writing them!
I DON’T warn for anything that might fall under ‘relationship dynamics’ - this covers everything from mutually-enjoyable power play to actual abuse (physical, mental or emotional). Considering the pairings I’m attracted to, and the fact that this is the area I’ve had most difficulty adequately warning for in the past, I think a blanket warning is safer. If you need to know if a fic contains a certain situation or dynamic, again, please PM me.
TD;LR - even if a fic doesn’t have any of the warning labels I feel confident applying, it may still contain disturbing or triggering content. Tread carefully or PM me with any concerns.
