Easing Back In

Sep 28, 2004 18:00

Haven't posted in some time. Been a bit busy/down. Better now ... But want to ease back into posting in this thing. Thought I could initially just do one of those quick-list-what's-been-going-on things:

* Turned 34, surviving the year of the death of somebody's lord.
* Conducted and designed a program on literary research at the library.
* Held our first Residents' Review for the first residents at our local urban Faerie Sanctuary. Some tempers flew, round the bonfire, but all in all there is evidence of growing ability to discuss touchy subjects responibly and carefully.
* Resigned my place on the Board of Directors for Cinema Memphis, one day before the Powell-Pressburger film festival. The president is the father of a former student, but I just couldn't stand being told to do things wihtout notice, having no decision-making role in the project, and plain ol being too busy. I never felt so good as when I sent off that email and skipped the whole festival.
* Had two Faerie fundraisers (to buy solar batteries and to pay for our encorporation): a garage sale and vegetarian/vegan concessions for the local Pagan Pride Day. For the latter, I made the cole slaw to go with the TVP sloppy joes. We also had mock tuna sandwiches, vegan fudge and baklava, cowgirl cookies, etc. To make sure we didn't get too high-falutin', the night we made it all, Guy donated some deer meat and Joe barbecued it so we could gnaw on game meat while we made the veggie vittles.
* Had too many margaritas on a Saturday afternoon.
* Saw my friend and co-worker pull out her breast implant for all to see at our corner bar.

Coming up: Finishing at least ONE of the poetry essays I am contracted for. The one with a mid-October deadline. Then: Fall Gathering at Short Mountain! Joe will leave this Friday for a nine-day stint; I will follow next Thursday for a long weekend. I will NEED/WANT the break after this; what I want is some easy-slide time, with no looming obligations. Inch-worming my way to that place ... .
