Every once in a while, I have to revisit
"The Show with Ze Frank." It's a bit dated, as a lot of it has to do with then-current news stories, but there are a number of bits that are inspirational (especially the episode about
Brain Crack) or just amusing (
"How Do You Work This Thing?" and
"Coke Blak"). I wore my Sports Racers shirt (the one with the ducky!) to the Twins game on Saturday because I was tired of black t-shirts.
Ah, Twins. We somehow managed to win on both Friday and Saturday evenings, despite the painful pitching by my favorite pitcher, Jon Rauch. He even has
his own entrance video. (Not the greatest recording of the video, but I still heart his
tattoos.)
Driving home after the Saturday game was...interesting. Somehow, the teams managed to time the game perfectly: it stopped raining, they played for 1:54, then it started sprinkling again. By the time I had my car out of the parking ramp, it was raining. A few miles later, it was pouring, and I was driving like an idiot. By the time I finally got on the freeway (after getting turned around in the downpour), it was the worst weather I've ever driven in, with punishing sheets of rain.
Ever been on a bump'n'ride? Driving in the storm was kinda like that. You get dragged over rough water, jouncing all the way, then for a moment, you're airborne (passing under a bridge on the highway)...only to smash back down onto the hard-as-stone surface of the water. Cars had pulled over on the interstate, under bridges and along the sides of the road, waiting out the storm. No hail, but that--and an official tornado--were pretty much all that could have made it worse. Roads and on-ramps had flooded, and the wind shoved cars around willy-nilly. Again, stupid to be driving, but I just wanted to be home...
So I'm trying to read as much as possible, lately. Book list for January-July in the next post!
