Why vampires, you ask?

Out of all fictional characters (as in angels, demons, superheroes, etc.), my favorite is most likely the vampire. Out of these, I believe my most favorite is either Christine Feehan's Carpathians or White Wolf's Vampires (a pen-and-paper role-playing game).

White Wolf's vampires vary depending on what series they're in. The races of vampires also differentiate upon which clans they're a member of. For instance, in Bloodlines the vampires are Toreador, Ventrue, Nosferatu, Bruja, Tremere, Gangrel and Malkovians. The Toreador vampires are the troubled yet beautiful ones. They're the artists-the poets, musicians, thespians-who are able to mingle very well with humans. The Ventrue are also beautiful and as able to mingle well with humans, yet they are the politicians and other “classy” vampires within their society. Their main ability is dominate, which allows them to control the minds of humans. The nosferatu are vampires who have been disfigured by the change, however they can turn invisible and are very able to hide in the shadows. The Bruja are Vampires who can function in society, but they're fairly militant, although not without cause. They have an ability to increase the damage they do with their hands or weapons, allowing them to be better in fights. The Tremere are also beautiful and able to mingle with humans. Their ability is that they can use blood magic, which makes vampires vomit their blood or takes a vampire's blood and transfer it to their own body, or finally makes the vampire's blood boil and eventually explode. This ability is obviously controversial. The Gangrel is also able to blend in with society, except when they use their ability-protean-to turn themselves into beasts, which are stronger, more resistant to damage. All of the vampires can use an ability called blood buff, which temporarily increases all of their attributes. All of their attributes require a certain amount of blood to activate. It goes without saying, they need to refill their blood otherwise they have a chance of frenzying. When they frenzy, they attack and feed on anything close to them and their humanity is lowered (it is lowered also by doing other unjust or evil things). The lower a vampires humanity, if it isn't obvious, will decrease the ability for a vampire to interact with humans and increase the likelihood of frenzying. When humans see them feed or frenzy, use gangrel or tremere abilities or simply see a nosferatu, the masquerade is violated. If the masquerade is violated, other vampires have to kill the violator. Finally, the Malkovians can blend in with society, but are often perceived as being crazy. In fact, they are crazy-each one having their own variant of a mental illness. Otherwise, they're very similar to Ventrue...that is, if they choose (or remember) to dress.

In the World of Darkness, a more recent series, things have changed. For instance, the bloodlines and clans have been changed. The bloodlines are now named Daeva, Gangrel, Mekhet, Ventrue and Nosferatu. The three that have been mentioned before stay largely the same. The Daeva are pretty much the Toreador, except they're more lusty in nature. They love to give in to their desires and will do so very often. Their main ability is majesty, which when activated makes others like or dislike the vampire or at higher levels makes others love or hate the vampire. The Mekhet are usually assassins, vampires who prefer to hide in shadows or crowds. Their main ability is auspex, which allows them to perceive auras and see spirits, have heightened senses, telepathy or to even astral project (projecting their spirit out of their body). The clans are The Carthian Movement, wholly democratic to a fault, with no special abilities; The Circle of the Crone, the pagans who practice black magic, with Crúac (blood magic) as their special ability; The Invictus, an aristocracy of a feudal nature; The Lancea Sanctum, comparable to far right-wing catholics (very devoted to their belief system as well), practicing Theban Sorcery (which has many biblical elements); The Ordo Dracul believes vampirism can be surpassed, though it may take centuries and The Coils of the Dragon are their rituals (which at heart seeks to tame the vampiric beast, be more resistant to sunlight and allow vampires to be masters over their need to feed); and finally, those that are unaligned.

Christine Feehan's Carpathians are not called vampires (unless they turn evil), but they are similar. They're stronger than humans and can live longer, they heal faster (with the help of fertile soil) and have increased senses. They can also shape-shift, becoming mist or different animals and can even control the weather and they're faster. They're also telepathic, able to communicate with- and read- the minds of others and to manipulate physical objects (clothing, doors, etc.) with their mind. The down-side is: after a certain amount of time, they become color-blind and lose emotional feeling. The only way to regain what they lost is to find their life-mate, the female who is the other half of their soul (of which they then can unite themselves with and have extremely hot love-making) or turn vampire (and then they kill their victims and feast on their fear in addition to their blood). They of course have to consume blood (the stronger the Carpathian they feed on, the more their blood does for them) to heal or when they need to feed.

So why do I like vampires the most? Because of their abilities (and of course, there are certain advantages to being a Carpathian, wink) and that they're refined. And plus, I like the night...and blood. That and they're just so damned sexy.

Another fictional character I'd enjoy being is a Jedi. I'd love to be able to wield a light-saber and the force. I'd mainly be a light-side Jedi, though I'd be seeing a lot of gray. It would just require a lot of discipline. Oh well.

They dark side looks cool and all, but the whole master and servant thing doesn't agree with me. It seems really narrow-sighted and conceited. And quite naïve, but being any extreme is, in my opinion.

Werewolves...well they're just dogs. I'd rather be a panther or lion any day.

But also, screw the holy water, cross and garlic shit. I'm not out to be a pansy vampire.

Or I could be a mutant, like in X-Men. Go Professor Xavier, though. Screw Magneto and his humans vs. mutants bit. Most mutants are still close enough to be considered human, anyway. At least in appearance. Except for like, Mystique or Beast or mutants like that. But damn, Mystique is hot as a human or mutant in the movies. Wow.
