My brother (having been sucked in many many months ago) insisted I watch the episodes of Firefly back when he got them (...many many months ago).  He showed me the (real) pilot - 'Serenity', and then the first episode/other pilot - 'The Train Job'.  Needless to say, I was hooked.  So much so, I bought my own copy of the show (many months ago).  Though with work and stupid PvP, I haven't really watched anything past the ones I was shown.  I decided on Friday that I wanted to see another episode...and then proceeded to watch the entire run of the show and then the film - Serenity, over the entire weekend (ie: while not at work).  I missed so much PvP that I dropped a rank:  I went from 22% in rank 10 to 95% in rank 9.  Firefly just sort of absorbs you like that.  Some might even say it adsorbs you like that (it's a real word, yes...and it means the same thing).  I've many things I could say about this show, but I think Orson Scott Card said it best:

"I mean, once you start, you treat it like a feature film.  You don't want to stop, you don't want any breaks, you just want to watch everything.  And when you reach the end as you realise they're getting set up for something wonderful, and then it stops!...you want to find someone at the network and, uh, kill them."

I do wish, however...having seen the film, that they could have continued with the show instead.  The film just seems so....final.  And certainly while filled with death (what does Joss Whedon do that isn't?), to me it had (at least 2x) needless death.

So everyone, if you haven't already...go watch Firefly.
