After the nightmare that was last Sunday, I was really hoping for a weekend off. But as it happens, the boss needs me today. I told him I was taking this Sunday off, and usually (according to Fujin), he just lets employees off for the entire weekend since it's easier to find a replacement for a weekend's shift than for a single day.
Before last Sunday, I was kind of hoping he'd bend the rules, but now that he has, I'm not so sure I want it anymore.
Apparently, he found someone willing to work with Cynthia just for Sunday, so I get to go to work today. WheefunyaynessKILLMENOW.
Not that I'm not still grateful for the job. But when a double-size CD wallet with 35 CDs in it (half of them burned by Fujin) gets stolen during the two minutes it takes me to use the portable toilet down the sidewalk, I start getting angry.
On top of that and the thing I was angsting about last LJ post (more fun times there), I've managed to piss everyone in the house off in the span of one night. Over f***ing HALLOWEEN COSTUMES.
On the upside, both Terry and I know what we're going to be, and more or less where we're going to go. We're heading for Castro this Halloween, and I'm going to be an off-kilter Phantom of the Opera (red-headed and goateed, but with all the appropriate regalia INCLUDING a full-face half-mask!), while he's dressing as Rasputin.
Jamie was going to go for a "butch serial killer" look, with lots of leather, a silver-haired biker cap, and Krueger claws, but after Terry wouldn't quit bitching and moaning about his costume not being "just right" (read: historically accurate), Jamie got sort of fed up with the whole thing. Me snapping at Terry about getting out of bed late this morning didn't help either. It's 6 AM, and Jamie's already brooding in the living room.
All things considered, though I do feel bad about it, it's a good thing we said no to Josh. Things get stressful enough around here as it is.
