Birthday Girl vs. Neurotic New Mommy
Michael has asked my friend Kathy to come baby sit for a couple of hours so he can take me to the movies for my birthday this evening. I'm not sure I WANT the gift, in spite of needing a break. I had told him not to get me anything for Christmas, Valentines, and my birthday (as I said before-I had originally requested the box set and soundtrack of ROME, but then told him not to get me ANYTHING).
Anyway, the thing is-- I'm not sure "little" Michael is ready for both mommy and daddy to be gone for a couple of hours at a time yet. He has been fussing so much lately that we are trying to decide whether or not he has colic.
So, am I crazy here for thinking I may not want to go out for my birthday? I mean, little Michael is 10 weeks old as of today, and I'm 3121587 years old as of today. It's not like this birthday thing is new to me. Big Michael has already purchased a movie pass, but we don't have to use it today. I just don't know that "little" Michael is ready for it, especially with all the fussin' the last few days.
