Example of musician friends of two groups I played with shortly before leaving town:
Small jazz band: Froggy's Milneburg Joymakers:
Trumpet: no email address or contact; I strongly suspect he got out to Texas. Home likely some flooding.
Trombone: Me. Escaped to Jacksonville, soon to Austin. House on high ground, but no idea if it survived wind, fires, looting.
Sax: Got out to Georgia. Doesn't know if home still there.
Guitar: Got out to New York.
Tuba: No contact, friend who stayed in town reports his car was gone and a neighbor said he'd left town.
Drums: Got out to Houston.
Big Band: Riverbend Radio Ramblers
First trumpet: Last heard a few days ago, still in New Orleans, in a small apartment uptown, doing okay under the circumstances.
Second trumpet: Stayed in town for a week after the storm around Treme neighborhood, was evacuated to Atlanta, soon to go to Texas.
Trombone 1: Me again
Trombone 2: He and his wife survived the Superdome for 5 days, then were evacuated to Houston, then friends in Atlanta; plan to look for a place in Houston.
Clarinet: Got out to Florida panhandle
Tenor & soprano: Heard he got out, don't know details
Guest tenor sax: in Dallas, doing well. Home on high ground.
Alto sax: also in Dallas; home may have gotten flooding downstairs
Guitar: same as above guitar
Banjo: unaccounted for
Tuba: same tuba as above
Drums: unaccounted for
