Port Gibson Illustrated

Our place in Port Gibson only lost power for less than 2 minutes last night; some rural areas out of town were said to still be without power this morning. Bands of rain and clear are traveling through here today, but not as bad as it sounded the other day.

We're staying here.

Bed. Came with a bowl of jelly beans; Ms. Hollie has been munching on a few of 'em.

We can see this church steeple from our window. The decoration on top is presumably a reference to "Laugh In"'s "Flying Fickle Finger of Fate".

This bank building is visible out another window. About half the commercial buildings in town seem vacant.

Synagogue building, left over from when they used to have Jews here.

Gas pump beside the Synagogue.

Sign on Market Street

We've only turned the tv on briefly a couple of times, but we did catch the breaking news on CNN where Skeletor Chertoff and Louisiana Governor Eddie Haskel announced Hurricane Gustav's remarkable cholesterol reducing properties.
