New Years Eve 2008 Part 1

Jan 02, 2008 13:42

It was a nice New Years Eve. Me and a small group of friends went to the small town of Manzinita on the Oregon coast. There we rented two rooms, one for the boys (Shawn and Kyle) and the other for us adults (Jana, Simon, Wendy and Myself).

The drive up with Jana was kind of difficult because there were several accidents coming over the mountain pass. We had to wait for about forty minutes for the damaged cars and their poor occupants to be cleared from the road. The view though while waiting and walking around was nice. The ground was blanketed with snow and the tree branches were topped with the snow glistening in the blue sky. I was grad to be able to walk around gazing at natures beauty for just a little while even if wasn't under the best circumstance.

The hotel was kind of old, but not run down and ugly. And in fact our room was clean and homey. There was a apartment size kitchen, a private bedroom, a bed in the living room and a big table to sit around. The best part of the room was the floor to ceiling windows that stretched across the balcony that gave a great view of the beach and the roaring Pacific Ocean waves.

We spent the first part of the evening eating a great tasting New York style pepperoni pizza from a place down the street while playing UNO the card game. The game went on forever everybody at sometime seemed to have a pile of cards in their hand. In the end, Wendy (the card shark won), but I think she cheated slightly on the last couple of cards. Which was fine, she had been winning more times during the game than anyone else, and we all were really starting to get burnt out on the game anyway.

I'm about to lose all my time on the library computer. I'll have to post the rest of the New Years Holiday later.

Until then,
