* On the "Okay, kid" line, I got this weird Dark Phoenix flashback - something about the way Amy's hair and eyes go, along with how that's a total Claremont line. Still haven't decided what (if anything) I want to do with that...
* Gender politics: I think that's one of the biggest things I love about Rory, that he kind of subverts gender politics just by being a really nice awesome person. ...I don't entirely know where I'm going with this, but I first started Definitely Liking him back in "Eleventh Hour" when everyone I know who was into gender politics was cheering for Amy not turning round while the Doctor was changing clothes, and I was liking Rory because he did turn round (even though societally he wouldn't strictly have to because he's a guy, and so's the Doctor), because he is just that polite sort of a person.
And then, you know, he waits two thousand years for Amy, and he turns into Mr Pond... and he just does all these things that if he was female, he'd be seen as a terribly "good little housewife" character and excoriated for. But...
...oh, ack, I don't even quite know what I'm going for here. I'm terrible at gender politics. But there's something here that I can't help poking at ever since you mentioned gender politics and Rory in the same sentence, because I think it might be important.
(Um. Sorry. I see you said you didn't want to discuss that here. But - well, leaving it and you can ignore it if you like? It doesn't want to be deleted.)
* AUTON RORY IS MADE OF AWESOME AND PLASTIC. And that little artist's rendition of the Lone Centurion pulling the Pandorica out of the warehouse during the Blitz makes me tear up every time.
(You read eponymous_rose's "Turning And Turning" Roryfic, didn't you? I read it before I'd seen the ep, and... augh. Wow. Even semi-knowing that he might be probably okay, I totally yelled "STOP KILLING RORY SHOW!" at the screen. And then when he turned up as the security guard! I sniffled. I had not seen that coming.)
* Matty boy looks really excellent in the fez. I was sad they shot it.
* 'And then the Doctor rides the Pandorica into the heart of the universe.'
Heeeee! And it was SUCH A RIDE. He does like his rickety clunky old cars. When he was all grinning there at the end, I said to him, I said: "Why don't you break Bessie out of storage for me there while you're at it?" *g*
(...obviously I should have done a reaction post of my own instead of cluttering up your journal?)
* "Something borrowed, something blue" KILLED ME STONE DED IN THE BEST WAY THERE IS. I still flail about the epic rightness of that, given the slightest opportunity, though I will spare your journal because I am incoherent at best and the above gender-politics thing had quite the quota of incoherent babble already. ;-)
* And then there is Eleventy and Amy and Rory and the TARDIS. AND THEY ARE AWESOME.
(...and I am just goofy enough to say that I love how her name is inherently capslock. *g*)
--T'would be interesting if you did. *intrigued -- wow, they're even both ginger :D*
--Yeah; I think it is important. Whatever it turns out to be. :/ because he is just that polite sort of a person. THIIIIIIIIIS. THIS THIS THIS.
--YES. Plastic Rory! :D (And yes, that one I'm pretty sure I did read, and it was made of amazing and I should find it and read it again.
--Ahahaha, he does. But I'm liking that he has a thing for hats just like Two did.~
--IT WAS.~ It reminds me of him and Idris riding after the TARDIS in the Neil Gaiman episode -- gorgeous animation. and yes he should definitely bring Bessie out of retirement!
--Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.~
--INDEED. And that is a brilliant point about INHERENTLY CAPSLOCK. *needs an icon of that now*<3
* RORY RORY RORY RORY RORY. *still hearts massively*
