I got a temp job on Thursday.  It's simple data entry for the Cash for Clunkers dealie.  We look at a form the dealer sends in, compare it to several documents they also send in, and approve it or reject it if something is missing or otherwise doesn't qualify.  Absolutely mind-numbingly easy.  They don't know how long it will last.  I've heard everything from 2 to 5 weeks.  OT is encouraged, but they don't have desk space to extend shifts, so they would like us to work 7 days a week.  At the rate they're paying us, 56 hours a week will match my salary I was making at eBay.  So, 1) I hope this goes for many, many weeks, and 2) I won't have a day off for awhile.  And that's fine.  I just had 10 months off.  I don't need any more for now.

But it's been a total clusterfuck to start with.  On Thursday, it took them over an hour to have us sign forms outside in the hot sun before we were given Visitor stickers and allowed into the training room.  Then after training, they sent us home because they had not created logins.  Today, after another hour in the sun waiting for our Visitor stickers (rumor has it we won't get badges until Tuesday) they still didn't have logins for us, but we were able to work in groups using the supervisors' logins for 6.5 hours.  Then they sent us home early again.  Hopefully tomorrow goes more smoothly.

As much as I bitched about eBay, they really did work more competently than most companies.  These people are just a pathetic joke.  I feel for the supervisors.  I always hated dealing with technical issues, especially pertaining to login.  (Try troubleshooting that shit while in India with someone back in the office in SLC.  Not fun.)

Of course, I swore I would continue to write, and I haven't.  I'm not surprised.  I think I would if I weren't currently stuck in the story.  Can't find a way to make this current bit interesting.  Plan on brainstorming on it while lying in bed tonight.  But I did come up with a thematic idea for another book while grocery shopping today.  Must go write it down while I'm still thinking of it.
