It's just partway through April and already it's been a pretty good month culinarily.

The first image is of a cherry burger that avani and I made on Monday. Our modifications included scaling up the burger recipe a bit, substituting in Indian and Aleppo red pepper in larger amounts for the cayenne it calls for (though it was still too little to taste), and using regular buns.

The second image is of a strawberry donut. Safeway is about two blocks from me and a donut shop is about a third of that distance away. This is the second time we've done this and it really is quite easy. You put some strawberries in a saucepan with some lemon juice and maybe some sugar, simmer, squish, and so turn them into strawberry sauce. Then warm a donut, cut it open, add syrup and strawberry pieces, and eat. Other delicious ways to eat donuts include with homemade pomegranate syrup or with smashed blueberries. I have yet to try other fruits.
