March 27-30th in Bremen

One thing that manages to surprise me every day for no reason are the slowly blooming cherries just outside the door.

Anyway, Friday's intensive German was less fun than the first lesson, mainly because we were working on Konjunktiv (Conditional sentences), which normal Germans use very, very little. Also, today after having my homework corrected I found out that I have almost completely forgotten how to write in German to not seem like some moron or mentally disabled person (no offense meant towards anyone). And, right now I'm feeling a bit lame about my German grammar skills, but I'll try to improve that.. or else it will be really bad. For tomorrow I'm to prepare a 5 minute speech on a famous person from my country. Of course, if wouldn't be lightbird if, in stead of famous, she didn't choose a person from her study (science) field, so I'm doing it on A. Schmidt, a biochemist who worked on extracting insuline in the 30's and on vitaminology, which let him survive during the early Soviet times, as a practical science.

Otherwise, I've survived the first weekend. Now I have a bit of regret that I didn't go to the party organized by the Czech guys, Lukāš and Mirek, because they had such terrible fun that the neighbours called the police, but, honestly, I was terribly tired on that evening. Saturday was sleepy, mainly watching anime (Princess Tutu) and colouring my drawings, one of which was for Magdalena, because she had her birthday today. I drew her a headshot of my original character, Fallen Star the dragon breathing out a rainbow - I like to say that it's a slightly hallucinogen induced picture :) because of the wacky, bright colours. Anyway, Magda was happy and said she'd put it on the inside of the door in her room.
I only went out on Saturday to have a little walk in the Buergerpark, which is a really great place, full of birds of many species (just bursting with their songs), and decided to come back later, when it would be drier. Which I did, yesterday, because ever since then the weather has been sunny, albeit cold, and even managed to take some semi-blurry pictures of the European Robin (Erithacus rubecula) - small birds are very fast-moving and I didn't believe it would stand still for more than 3 seconds.
There was also some kind-of a guided tour through the Old Town on Sunday, but not many Erasmus students came, possibly because of not noticing Daylight Savings - I wouldn't have noticed, either, unless for my laptop. And since at the beginning I was the only one who'd appreciate the tour being on German, we divided in 2 English groups. Poor Uni girls sure had some problems with the translation. The Schnoor quarter was beautiful, with many tiny novelty shops, like one for Easter bunnies and another for kites, I don't remember everything right now but will definitely explore it.
When I came home, I noticed that 1) my grandmother had called and 2) Magda had written me a message to meet up with her.
When I called my grandmother, I found out that everybody at home was dead-worried about me not writing and calling (had been thinking about writing, just wasn't sure what to write yet). OK, fine, I should have called sooner than after 5 days, then again... if they were really THAT worried, why not try to contact me at all? Eine kleine Versuchung, bitte?
Visited the appartment where Magda's staying with the Czech guys, and I certainly understand why she prefers to get away from the Wohnheim offer she had signed up to at the beginning - the appartment was cheaper in the end, and it looks just great - it was rented after an old woman who owned it died recently. While cooking the turkey dinner, Magda told me that it had happened in that appartment. Afterwards - about how she had once slept in a bed where, as her host told her, a girl prostitute was stabbed by a client and pulled to the bathtub to die there. The more Magda tells about herself (in a completely normal manner), the more convinced I am that I have experienced nothing... in a way :).
As for today, our German teacher shared the very optimistic weather report for the following days - sunny and getting warmer each day. I hope that it keeps that way until the weekend (ain't I naive?), because today we got the semester tickets which also allow us to take some  trains to Bremerhaven, Hannover and Hamburg (plus some other routes which I should remind myself about) for free, and now that I think about it, I seriously want to go outside the city. Just have to choose, where to go.
OK, probably enough rambling for this time, good night and.. I suppose Infanta would write something tomorrow, as she's leaving on Wednesday?
