Day 3 of Inelliversary Celebration

Woot! We are now on day 3 of my little celebration. I added it up last night and I've written over 15k since Thursday! That was my target goal by Sunday, I have to admit, because of the 15 year anniversary. So I met target already. *twirls and dances with y'all* I'm planning to keep going, of course. Short Fic doesn't seem to be on my Muse's mind

1. What are your five favourite HP ships, and what is it about each of them that attracts you and inspires you?

2. Tell me about your Hermione! You write her in stories all the time, of course, but if you were to describe her as a person, outside of a narrative voice, what do you see as the key facets of her personality, and what drives her? What about her speaks to you and what about Hermione is it that you love, as you clearly do?

That makes perfect sense to me! I love that dichotomy of more book smarts than people smarts, too, and that she's warm-hearted and caring even though she doesn't always know to handle people. And that ruthlessness and tendency to let the end justify the means, yes. And as you say, she could go in so many directions (and she's still so young where canon ends).

Thank you for the great answer; this is definitely the Hermione I see in your stories. And as for question one, I would hardly have chastized you for expounding on Viktor/Hermione and a few more ships. ;) Interesting to see which are your favourite ships, because you write so many and so varied from different people's prompts that it's not obvious at a glance which you love the best, yourself. I don't think any of them were a real surprise to me, though, except Pansy/Hermione, but that may be simply because I pay better attention to your het fics and pairings. (And I would probably have guessed Hermione/Charlie as your number one ship! But Trio makes perfect sense.) ♥

Hee! I'm glad it made sense. And, you know, it's funny because I realized that a lot of what I write is based on prompts. Cunning Croft used to be awesome at giving me Hermione/random character prompts, and she's the reason I explored Bill and Charlie and Zach and Dennis and several others. Blaise is the one that I wanted to write and did, causing some silly wank back in 2004 even wit D/Hr fans blaming me for luring people into writing Blaise/Hermione. So silly. LOL Anyway, Trio is just special to me, even if I don't write it often. Pansy/Hermione is probably my favorite femmeslash ship, so I wanted to include one in my top five. Kingsley/Hermione is one I am currently loving a lot, actually, and I'm glad a few people prompted me for it because I do enjoy it.

1. How do you approach writing these prompts? There's such a wide variety of pairings, I wonder if you have some trick for it?

2. What are your favourite fics you have written? What are your most popular? Are the same?

3. Do you find writing for BTVS very different from HP given one's live action TV and the other's a book series?

1. It depends on the prompt, honestly. You gave me quickie, for example, so obviously my mind thought up a moment when the ship is sneaking to have a quickie. I did one this morning based on a prompt of "the postman always rings twice". My mind thought of that novel and film, which is about a drifter and a woman killing her husband then getting caught and dying/going to prison. I have a thing about unhappy endings (hate them) and that idea didn't fit the characters, but my mind took that to being a drifter and a guy with an abusive stepfather and it went from there. I could have easily just written something about an actual postman that was humorous and sweet, but I went to murder and happy endings. LOL It's easier with pairings I've written before, obviously, but most pairings I've written have come from a prompt or challenge at some point with exceptions being Hermione/Minor Characters the first time usually. If it's a ship I haven't written, I look at the prompt then I think about the characters and just try figuring out a moment

1. Hmm. I remember enjoying Things Happen, Que Sera Sera, Spring Fling, and Hunted. Those jump out the most.
2. Goodness. I remember getting a comment from someone on a HP fic that basically said she enjoyed the fic but hated that I didn't write her OTP and that she couldn't stand it. I was a bit confused on whether I should say thanks or sorry. LOL

Oh lordy! I've gotten feedback like that myself and boy does it leave me scratching my head.

You so ARE. I've even gotten feedback where they've complimented me by saying that my story reminds them of something YOU wrote and then they wax rhapsodic about all the stories of yours that they love.

1. I don't have an absolute favorite! I listed some of my favorites above, but I forgot my Blaise gen and my Draco gen (that has Draco/Ginny elements), which are two I enjoy, too.
2. I enjoy anything written by thimble_kiss, florahart, heather, scifichick774, and so many others that I can't think off. rose_whispers wrote brilliantly, but she's gone from fandom now. This is too difficult to answer! :P
