Oh you beautiful, beautiful, creature. I knew going in that this could be painful. After all, as you pointed out, the lyrics aren't exactly fun. And I love what you did here. I don't mind sticking to what we see in canon of her devotion to the Dark Lord. It is canon after all. I do sort of sway on what JKR says of the Lestrange marriage. Because it makes everyone believe Rodolphus hated her. Which is ridiculous when she, as such an assertive personality, stands side by side with him in all things. There had to be some level of trust and understanding between them. Intimacy, in fact, for the things they are said to have done together. And I keep that in mind when I write Rodolphus. And you have basically written my interpretation of him in this scenario. The more level-headed and observant one. The one who can see what's coming and dreds it rather than rushing towards it. The one who cares more about his family and he woman he loves than the cause ( ... )

Hee! This is such a lovely comment! I actually went back through the last three books to ensure that I wasn't missing any moments of Rodolphus, but he really is just in the background mostly during like two main battles and that's it. I wanted to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything. I don't usually listen to much of what JKR says post-canon unless it suits the mind I have for a certain backstory. I can see Bellatrix's priority being Voldemort regardless, but I like to think there's something between her and Rodolphus or he'd not be so prominent in supporting her crazy stuff. I do think prison might dampen some of what they shared during the first war, though, which might be why I've only written them during first war. LOL Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed my Rodolphus and this interpretation of your prompt. I have plans to write for a couple of the others, but I'm trying to answer at least one for everyone before I start on second ones. Haha! ♥

Rodolphus is far from being one of my favourite characters but I really did feel for him here. How he wished to be able to follow Rabastan but know he can't. Or how he missed his former connection with Bellatrix. Very human, and though he would curse me for that, I did pity him. Loved it.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you felt his characterization was real and human. That means a lot. ♥
