Thanksgiving in the Netherlands

There are days that you remember, and there are days you don't. I remember the first time I had to do swimming at school, because it was scary, intimidating, and new. A new experience always has a commanding presence among our memories. Ten years and four months ago I backpacked through Asia and Europe with my brothers one summer. One memorable moment was leaning out a window in Paris and looking down at the quiet, quaint, city streets.

Tonight I formed a new memory, doing much the same. From the window of my air bnb I looked out over a rainy canal contemplating and just appreciating myself and the moment. This air bnb is an absolutely amazing, a full apartment. Amazingly designed, with a jacuzzi tub, balcony, roof and two floors. Its like getting a window on to the life of a well off dutch person.

Its just been an entirely unique experience, which is something I have not had in a while. But its also an incredibly relaxing, self reflective moment. Where I feel like for the first time in a while I can recharge my batteries. Its like a window into another persons life. Listening to his jazz collection, watching the rain fall, taking a bath.

Sarah was here for two days- then Cat and Olivia arrived today. Had dinner with them at this great Indonesian restaurant. Tomorrow Sean arrives to share this air bnb with me. We are here till the 25th and then go up to Utrecht for Thanksgiving to see Julian and Alyson.

Its exactly what I need to recharge, and just the thing I will remember for a long time to come. But for now I will enjoy this great place!
