YATTA! Another heart attack avoided

Jamie has the specifics on the A/C - I'm actually confident it'll stay fixed this time. The air flows better, and it actually kicks off every now and again instead of running 24/7.

I've mentioned this a couple times before, but this computer loves giving me heart attacks much more than I like it to. First of all, I had to re-install Windows for lack of a better option to a strange problem I had. Everything in explorer didn't have a name anymore, it only listed the day it was added. So this time, I installed two versions of Vista, both custom - Eternity 2009 based on SP1, and Gamer Edition based on Sp2. I'm trying them both out to see which one I like better. I still have to activate the Gamer Edition yet, but Eternity doesn't require it.

I bought another hard drive because I'm still running out of space even though I've dedicated a whole 120GB to just downloads, and my games and movies drive consists mostly of just what it's supposed to. So I bought a terabyte drive, since storage is getting mighty cheap these days. So what's the first thing I do when I open the case? I yank out the power for one of my expensive fans. So I had to replace it with one of my stock fans, and this time covered the LED's with tape. After I install the drive, the computer decides it's not going to give me video anymore. I was pretty upset about that to begin with, but then I decided to wait and see if the OS would load so that I could at least hear sound. No go on that either. Fuck. So because I wasn't getting video, I wasn't even sure the BIOS was loading. Which would be bad. I double checked all the connections and everything was fine, but still nothing. So I went to bed because my head hurt and I was out of ideas anyway. This morning, I decided what I would try is uninstall computer components one by one and try that. After I removed and re-installed the video card - that worked! Luckily it was only the second thing I tried.

So I'm getting it formatted for use now, which will probably take like a friggin' day and a half since it's a terabyte. Still, the heart attack is over now. I was really, really afraid I managed to short out the motherboard or something. Which didn't make sense to me because everything turned on like it should, just no video. So since I got it fixed, I've been listening to "Yatta!" on youtube for the last half hour.

I'm planning on coming into Evansville this weekend, so hopefully I can see you guys.
