We finally have the A/C back after some pushing I had to do with my landlord and HVAC guy. Thank God too, because I don't think I could have fared another sleepless night. It made it up to 83 in here.
Gah, anyway - I have a theory on what's going on with all the celebrities. I think somebody out there has a Death Note. It's all too coincidental for my liking - so the only explanation is that somebody has a shinigami empowered notebook that kills people. Yes, it's an anime reference. An excellent anime at that.
In the Tom Music arena, I found through Metropolis that a few regulars have released new Albums including KMFDM, Wumpscut, In Strict Confidence, and Combichrist. It would seem these days that the only music being released are well-established acts and performers. KMFDM has being doing this thing that they do for what seems like forever. It would seem gone are the days of XTORT and Nihil, and seemed to have an established style as opposed to making up a completely new one with every new album - it's a shame really, I often looked forward to KMFDM's unpredictability.
As such, I'm still on the lookout for new music. I tried psy-trance, and found that it all sounds pretty well the same. I'd like to find more IDM artists, but they're so damned rare and buried, it's practically gold when you find one, let alone somebody that's any good. I also tried dabbling into hardcore and found much wanting, so I've decided to go dabble in a similar style - club and rave. I'm really digging into my techno roots these days and trying really hard to find out exactly what makes me like a techno song and extrapolate those results onto an artist or group of artists. It would seem that a lot of rave and club artists produce only singles, and not so much in the way of albums. So really it looks like the way to go is in collections. There are such albums that are released on a regular basis.
When they get it right, they really get it right - which I suppose is why they only release singles. When they have a hit, it drive me to better moods, higher alertness, and energy. Really helps me start my day. I find myself driving to work thumbing through my thousands of songs trying to listen to maybe one out of a hundred that works for that purpose. I'm trying to put together a playlist, so we'll see how that works out.

Since work pretty well drains any time I have, there isn't much else to report. Again, I will not be in to visit this weekend due to Jamie's cousin's wedding. And next week is up in the air, which would be effectively July 11th. It's possible.
I decided to go ahead and add two more speakers to my living room home theater setup. I always seem to have a speaker or two laying around, so I made use of my spares since I have a living space that can support it. Yeah, it's a messy affair with the wires, but hell it sounds good. I'm sure Jamie's not real fond of it anyway, but I'm sure she'll REALLY hate it if I decide to go 11.1 someday. Yes, there's a configuration that allows for eleven speakers and one subwoofer. The additional speakers are for two more in front and two more in back, except they're positioned on the ceiling for the "up" sounds. Crazy, impractical, and a bit silly yes - but awesome? We'll see.
We still have a shit-ton of stuff to unpack, but it's pretty well habitable now. We just have to go through all our "where did I put this?" kind of stuff and find a place for it as we discover things.
