I finsihed downloading Prototype for PC. You may have seen commercials or trailers and such and probably, maybe thought it looks cool. After playing the first level, I'm extremely impressed.
I can't help but compare it to previous Spiderman games. I really liked Web of Shadows, swingin' through the city in style with flashy combat; and Ultimate Spiderman gave you the ability to play as Venom where you could make huge leaps and eat people. If you could even try to make a valid comparison, Prototype is like Web of Shadows on crack, meth, and drinks a Red Bull every so often. It's far more adrenalised, and cut scenes only make you angry because they're in the way of you killing, running, leaping, and eating people.
I've only played the first level and part of the second, but I'm pretty stoked about seeing the rest of the game. Now everybody else has an X360, so you people won't have hardware trouble, but I downloaded it for free on PC and I'm finding that my graphics are taking a hit. I've only had my graphics card a year, but already it's telling me it's tired and can't handle the stress of 1080p games. So if I really want to play Prototype and others like it on full settings, I'm going to have to upgrade to a $400 card. That's just the price of PC gaming, I get all my games for free, but I pay for it in hardware. I recently downloaded Dark Sector, which seems to play ok on full settings, but it's clear that any new games will have to be toned down to be playable.
So yeah, any of you with 360's (which is all of you), you should at least play the demo, but I promise it won't take much to make you want to shell out the cash for the full version.
