I'll admit, the name had me confused in the pre-episode hype, but it all came together well! I like that Keller and Rodney echoed each other so well- I loved that the rest of them were unabashedly honest about the fact that the one day part was mostly for them. THEY wanted it for Rodney, and for themselves- for them to say good-bye and for him to die with honor, even if he didn't want it for himself.
Woolsey's performance here is remarkable- the scene is beautifully done, where he is sharing in that understated way of his.
John and Rodney's interaction here was beautiful. Who here didn't go Aww! when Sheppard does that really cute hand on mouth GIGGLE when Rodney calls him Arthur. And here again we have John's discomfort with good-byes, which makes the fact that he risked his life and almost ended Rodney's to go to the shrine so much more poignant.
I know the slashers were well disappointed with the ending, which is a little funny. I think it's a great mark of growth that SG-1 needed and was kind of derailed after RDA left. If they're truly becoming a community, some of them are going to pair off. And they were never going to make Rodney and John gay in canon. Slash is AU, and this was a GREAT AU episode for slash, plenty of moments to build on ESPECIALLY the ending, just ignore the Keller parts.
Jeannie was great- I loved her interactions with Ronan and Keller. I don't think she knew Keller before, and that showed a little in the way they danced around each other, but she and Ronan HAVE met several times, which was cute.
So is Torren (sp?) with Kanaan on Athos? Interesting. I liked Teyla's outfit here- it seemed appropriate for the somber occasion and yet highlighted her alien side. Something that completely fits in her story line.
Ronan was great. We've seen that he and Rodney are closer than they pretend to be, with an affectionate mutual light contempt that is always funny, and it was wonderful to see Ronan fight so hard for something Rodney was so ungrateful about at first but that ended up saving his life. He was so strong for Jeannie- if she were single, they'd so be a couple.
Oh show! You redeemed yourself after last week, in a way that made my heart soar...
