More backlogged pictures. Continuing the great yellow lady's slipper hunt, we took a trip to Whittingham Wildlife Management Area and the adjacent Muckshaw Ponds nature preserve. The former had spectacular scenery, and we found a number of Galearis spectabilis in bloom. The latter was suffering from some serious invasive species trouble. The pictures from that hike are here. Unfortunately, we did not find the orchids we were looking for.

The day after, we went for some instant gratification, and stopped by Ken Lockwood Gorge WMA to check on a population we knew was there. The number of plants remained stable from last year, but the number of flowers was less. But, flowers there were:

On a different note, the first harvest from the garden brought in three and a half pounds of radishes. Everything is growing fast now.
