He’d shown up in the first hours of the morning, soaked from the rain and deeply upset over something. Keiichi’s first thought had been to question what was wrong, why the boy had turned up at his place at that time, where his friends were and whether they would be worried or not, so many questions he could think of to ask and yet...upon seeing the look on the boy’s face he immediately knew that now was not the time for that. Instead he simply opened the door wider, opened his arms for the boy, and waited. It didn’t take a second thought from the younger boy before he sprung forward, clinging and starting to breakdown; Keiichi could only wrap an arm back around him and lead him into the main room after closing the door.
This wasn’t the first time that Kamui had done something like this, and Keiichi somehow doubted that it would be the last. Carefully, very slowly, he led the boy to the bathroom, stayed with him until the bath was fully run and gently pried his body away. He’d be just in the next room, he assured, when Kamui was done and warm then he could have something warm to eat and they would watch the television or something. It was difficult, seeing the pained look in the younger’s eyes but really needing to leave him in order for the boy to properly take a bath, it needed to be done otherwise there would be a risk of an illness. That was the last thing needed right now.
Keiichi sighed very slightly as he put the kettle on. He cared very deeply for the boy in the other room and it truly hurt him to see those panicked and pained expressions across that face, what could he do about it though? He’d invited the other to stay with him many times but always received the same answer...and then something like this would happen.
Soon enough a familiar figure was seen by the doorway, awkwardly shifting from foot to foot. Kamui always looked all the more fragile while wearing clothes that were clearly several sizes too large for him. Keiichi smiled very slightly, one day he was sure that Kamui would turn up and be smiling brightly; it would just take some time. He was willing to wait and give comfort with evenings like this, sat by the television with an eventually curled up boy resting on his lap.
