It was a well said fact that no one particularly liked visiting a doctor; they tended to prod and poke people far too much for whatever ailment they were actually trying to investigate. Maybe you have a sore throat? They’ll check your ears and then put a wooden stick onto your tongue even if you can move the muscle out of the way by yourself. Feeling a little under the weather? Have a multitude of various pills to help ease the symptoms. And, of course, that’s when you actually get to see a doctor; half the time spent at the clinics is usually spent in the waiting room. You can be perfectly on time and the chances are that you’ll still be sat there many minutes later simply waiting.
Being ill was an entirely unpleasant experience.
So, why had he taken his vampire doppelgänger from another dimension to see one? It was horribly obvious now that there would be trouble, if not for the confusion upon names and how they looked exactly the same, then for the rather awkward attempts at explaining rather unusual teeth while making sure that no one happened to see a certain change in said other Kamui’s eye colour and the general appearance of them. In hindsight maybe it would have been easier to simply buy some type of muzzle and take the vampire to a vet...
Too little, too late, Kamui had to unfortunately remind himself as he sat there in the dreaded waiting room with a worn out and rather dull magazine, always and only magazines aimed at girls, gossip and fashion which he really couldn’t care less about. It was simply a small distraction to use in order to avoid the very distinct chaos that was coming from one of the examining rooms down the hall. He really should have gone in with the other Kamui and kept him in line, regardless of the complainants it would have raised about a lack of trust in self control. Considering now that everyone within this room was currently exchanging worried looks, not-so silent comments and some of the children were now apparently petrified of what a doctor was doing to someone...he certainly would have willingly endured the complaining to spare the trouble outside.
...He was probably fine though, he told himself, and it was probably someone else causing the commotion. A being as old as he could surely last through a simply check-up, it couldn’t possibly be the mature vampire who had been stuck with him for quite some time by now. It couldn’t, right?
Kamui’s answer came along soon enough when said ‘mature vampire’ hurriedly rushed down the hall, by-passed the waiting room and headed straight out. That...wasn’t a good sign. And by the look of the approaching doctor, who looked like he’d seen better days and had apparently been knocked, or was it clawed, for a loop, the other now missing in action Kamui hadn’t been well-behaved. Oh boy...
He found the apparently cowardly vampire hiding behind the clinic, pouting and trying to act as though he hadn’t just run away from a doctor and made himself look rather ridiculous in the process. There was no point in trying to draw a conversation out of him; Kamui had learnt that much during this amount of time together. Instead he simply tossed what he’d picked up from the pharmacy onto the older one’s lap and waited until he took the hint and stood up.
...He didn’t. Kamui sighed slightly and sat down next to him, it was all the more obvious that the vampire needed his brother again for support but...there was no means to hurry up the process in this place. Oh well, he’d simply have to wait here until the vampire decided he was up to walking back to the apartment building again.
A very small kiss to the other’s head and an absent hair-ruffle, well, maybe those magazines and the pointless gossip would have been better than nothing right now.
