what a relief
I was really prepared to be stressed out today... I woke up later than I wanted to, and I knew that as soon as I got to work, I'd have to go on a service call. Beyond that, this evening I had an impromptu speech that I had to give, and I wasn't going to know a thing about the topic until just a few minutes before class started! Oiii, it wasn't going to be a nice day at all.
Well, even though I woke up late, I managed to get everything around and I was even able to watch an episode of 桜蘭高校ホスト部 (Ouran High School Host Club) before going in!
As soon as I got to work, Joel told me that the service call had been canceled. Annoying that we weren't getting the extra income from a service call, but convenient that I would be able to stay at work and stay focused on the computers that I needed to get done. I even had several computers that came in that really were penciled in for a lot of work.
Well, all of those computers had simple fixes. It started off with two computers with “connecting to my dial-up ISP” that were all fixed by saying: “It works at CyberMedics, so there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it.” Another computer came in with a severe memory problem, which just seemed to be fixed by removing the RAM and putting it back into the computer!
Other than that, there just wasn't much to do. I talked to a lot of customers and I made a few phone calls, but other than that, there wasn't much really going on. When five-o'clock came around, I was in a bit of a lull anyway, so it was convenient that I headed out.
I headed straight home, I needed to be back to campus by five-thirty to get my impromptu speech topic. I was able to get a snack while at home (very small) and changed, but before I knew it, time was running short. I made one last check of my email to find out if there was any change in my class scheduled, and then I raced off to campus... I was able to get a parking spot close to the library, where Andrew and I were scheduled to meet my instructor.
And as soon as our instructor walked in, he said: “Well, since apparently our host speech class doesn't have class tonight... Both of you get As for tonights speech.”
We stayed and chatter for a while, but we ended up heading home shortly there after! I can't belive that I got out of any seriously hard work today! The most annoying thing that happened today was that my bench computer at CyberMedics died... It's CPU fan cut out, and even though the replacement heat sink/CPU fan combo was really nice, we didn't have any heat sink compound to put on it! So, no bench computer for a while now. -_-
