For the last day or so, I've been looking at the oodles of money that my relatives have provided me with for Christmas presents, and the newly released seaQuest season 1 DVD (available in DVD stores of varying locations). I kept thinking, "gee, I could use some more college money," but I was also thinking, "there's movies that I'd like to have on DVD!" Guess which one I went for? Yup, DVDs all the way.
So the official Christmas haul is now:
- iPod (early x-mas present)
- Andromedia Strain
- Soylent Green
- The Red Violin
- seaQuest season 1 DVD collection
Andromedia Strain is one of my all-time favorite sci fi movies! When I saw that it was out on DVD, I just had to get it. The same is true for Soylent Green, but it's not quite as high on the list. The Red Violin is on the list because I just can't seem to find the damn movie on the movie networks, and I've been looking for the past two years, after seeing a bit of the movie when I lived in Baker Hall rm. 252. And seaQuest, the big spender of the group? Well, I grew up on seaQuest... Loved the show, had a nice crush on Jonathan Brandis, and Darwin was just cool. I had to get it, especially with how much Sci Fi channel has been hounding reruns that I don't remember watching!
Amazon... Grrrr
I had some minor ordering issues, which is probably because I ordered everything from Amazon.com, and I hate the way they do their logging process. First, they use stupid metaphors for "log on" and "log off" (such as "Star Here" and "If you're not Daniel, click here" respectively.) Then, I did my stupid "Next, Next, Finish" thing without thinking about it... And since Amazon kept my credit card information (no "do not remember credit card" option on there that I saw) my order was completed before I knew it.
That's when I realized that the "Want it delivered by..." thing had lied to me! Upon competing my order, using the slower shipping method, I saw that my order was scheduled to arrive, at the earliest, 10 January... The day after I am supposed to return to college, and even then, there was a possibility that I wouldn't get the order until a day or two after that day! So, I went back and changed my order, to include the over-priced 3-5 day shipping to get my order in sooner. And then it told me, my order would be delivered over a week sooner! But, Andromeda Strain would likely arrive just before 9 January. I noticed that the other three DVDs were shipping several days before Andromeda Strain were... Grrr, and there was nothing about this on the Amazon page that talked about the shipping dates. Even the main page said "this item usually ships within 24 hours" and "Want it delivered by December 29 - Order in the next X hours, Y minutes! And choose 3-5 Day Shipping!" (which is what I ended up getting, and it's not going to be here by the 29 damn it, I'll be lucky to get it by 7 January!)
Grrrr... Amazon is annoying, but still is a fair repository for some of this stuff that I have difficulty finding all in one spot. My primary alternate being
DVD Planet, which does have everything, accept it's a little more expensive (like a few bucks).
Anime!
Other than the DVD stuff, I've been watching some anime... Not all that much though. I decided to watch another ecchi anime,
かれが私の御主人様 (He is my Master). At first the anime was interesting, and a little humorous, but the plot quickly got old. And as I keep watching it, I keep thinking, "gee, there's a shounen-ai downloading right now that I should be watching... grrrr." Well, I'm determined to finishing this one first, and then be done with it.
Speaking of Anime...
AnimeNfo has dramatically changed their layout!
AnimeNfo Classic LookAnimeNfo New Look Now, it may be the fact that I don't like the color red, or it may be the fact that I hate holiday layouts, especially if they are after the fact (AnimeNfo posted this new look this morning, when I was on there last night, the site still had the classic look)... And worst of all, I have no control over this holiday-centric display... Grrr, I hope that they aren't planning on leaving the holiday elements in there all year long... That would just be crappy, like people who leave their Christmas decorations up until July.
And, as I now post this journal, AnimeNfo is down for maintenance... ~sigh, I hope they are choosing a better layout ^_^
