Recovery complete!
Aside from an itchy back, I have recovered from my roasting in Thailand. For a while my back and shoulders were literally crispy, and then for a long few days my whole back was peeling, and it was gross... But with lots of aloe and some time, I made my recovery. And I have even more faith that one day I will die of skin cancer. It's just a matter of time!
The weekend after I got back, I mostly stayed in. I felt good on Sunday, so I went out to see some cherry blossoms and walk around a bit. Nothing big.
Last week I made a few mistakes at school, and had some lame kids. First I let my single advanced student put her head down after we finished the work and even her homework in class... A mistake, because at the time the assistant director and the girl's mother were watching on the computer monitor at the front. So I got a minor talking to about that. Then the next day another girl's mom got mad because I hadn't checked her 20 book reports (they're supposed to write one every week). Lame. Then this other kid who hadn't been to class in over 2 weeks turned up with his parents, claiming that he dropped his eraser and as he was reaching for it, I swooped down and stole it from him. Now I do have a habit of picking up erasers. But if it belongs to a kid, I give it to them. So that day he actually came to class while his parents talked to the director and probably watched me on the monitor like a hawk. A couple times they pulled him out of class. But we got through class without incident (aside from a kid throwing up - ew!), and apparently he has a problem with lying... It was the stupidest issue ever.
Last weekend on Saturday I went out with Nadia and Jenny to see Slumdog Millionaire, and then we met the receptionist Uni for lunch at the taco place. Mmm... And on Sunday I went to Taejongdae, the local suicide cliffs and a nice park. I hiked a bit and found a rocky outcropping to climb out and watch the boats from. It was warm and breezy, and I loved it.
This week has been incredible so far. My single advanced student is on a class trip all week, so that class is canceled. My special class was also canceled due to midterms. So on Tuesday and Thursday I had lots of extra free time, and got to leave a couple hours early. I love it! Last night I went to Homeplus after work for a sushi dinner and some grocery shopping.
This weekend I'm planning to take the subway way out to Hadan tomorrow to see some wild birds, walk along the river, and investigate the rumored Goodwill around there. Then I'll go back and get off at Seomyeon for some browsing/potential shopping. Sunday I intend to go to Childrens' Park, where I will see the zoo, hike, wander, explore, and check out the rides.
In other news, I have a new anime obsession. Two weekends ago when I was resting up, I decided to look up Keroro Gunso on Youtube. My interest was piqued by all the stickers and products for it around here. I was quite happy to discover that there are hundreds of episodes on Youtube! And that is what has occupied my free time for the past couple weeks. I love it. A lot.
It's been warm enough that I keep my windows open all day and night (aside from the last two nights, when it got down below 50). I love it!!
One day away from the weekend. Yes!!! Oh, and the other two girl teachers and I are going to swim with the sharks at the aquarium in a couple weeks. It'll be great fun!
