playing fetch with a cat
T and I were under the impression that our last cat spontaneously learned to play fetch as a kitten and LOVED IT. Adored it. As a lazy adult, he would often not bother chasing or bringing back the ball, but as a kitten he would fetch until he could no longer breath.
I think we were wrong. I think we taught our last cat to play fetch. I say this because we are well on the way to teaching Hela to play fetch. Loki will chase a mouse, but he doesn't bring it back. Hela has about 80% figured out that if she brings us the mouse, we will throw it again. She doesn't play tug-of-war with the mouse, but she does escalate her attention if I do not notice that there is mouse awaiting me. It is kind of adorable. And it gives her some exercise.
