i fired someone for the first time today.  obviously, there's parts that are shitty.  however, i stopped a train.  i stopped a train that had the same energy as sunnie.  one that could have led me back into that place i was back then.  one that i never want to go back to.  ever.  all this time i was so hyperactively aware of playing out those same ( Read more... )

I'm impressed! I can't really think of anything more horrifying than firing someone. But it sounds like you handled it pretty well. And, you know, it's part of your job. Anyone sane will understand that. And anyone insane, that will take advantage of your friendship at your place of employment... well... you don't really want to be friends with them, anyway.

thank you. i felt so good about it at first... and then the minnesota -- or is it catholic -- guilt started creeping in. i'm trying to hold it at bay... not sure if it's working... my mantra today is, "i did the right thing and it was not cowardly." did i say i hate the public arena a facebook? did i? i should. or people who take things there. wait, that's perfect! THAT'S the cowardly thing!

Oooh, trying to start a Facebook feud? That is low. And kind of hilarious. Is it something like, "OMG got axed 2day she's such a biotch 4 reel she'll get hers lol!!1!!!1!1!!!!" ?

apparently i have no conviction, maturity, or balls. what sucks is we have mutual friends... i'm not sure if they know what happened yet, but i'm sure they will. and they can make up their minds. bleh.

Well, I've SEEN that you have no balls (dirty), but as for conviction and maturity? Doesn't it take both to fire someone? Especially someone who you consider(ed) your friend?

Meh, peole see through crazy. Especially facebook crazy. Especially facebook crazy from people who (I'd assume) are WAAAAY too old to be pulling that shit.

TOTALLY. And shit yeah I'd sleep on someone's couch. In an f'in heartbeat. (and it'd probably be cleaner than the Carlton Arms)

Unrelated: do you know what your tentative schedule is for your brother's wedding? I'm trying to take time off work so I can come up and see you, but my boss is all "NO ONE CAN TAKE TIME OFF EVER!" so I'm thinking if I only ask her for a couple days, ones I know you'll be around, we'll be more likely to figure something out.

Hahahaha. I'm convinced that is exactly what is at the soul of this person from reading this little back and forth.

Good job doing something difficult, Meg! Get the toxic people moved as far away as possible.
