The Promised Land

Well, we're here in Palm Desert, CA.  It's warm (like 70+ degrees F!) and sunny and there are palm trees and cacti everywhere.  People have orange and lemon trees in their friggin' yards down here!  We didn't make it in last night, as had been planned, we had to stop in Victorville, CA because I was tired of driving for so long.  Yesterday we had more car trouble and had to stop off in Coalinga, CA to once again get the tension on my alternator belt fixed and a fuse replaced.  It was a 2+ hour stop at a tiny hole in the wall garage called "Beehive".  The mechanic, an old grizzled sort of fellow, cut both his hands while trying to work on it.  Not just small cuts either, he was bleeding ALL OVER my car under the hood.  He didn't seemed fazed though, and he got it fixed eventually.  Now I am just praying that this time, the bolt that was replaced holds at least long enough to get us back to Seattle.  Palm Desert is pretty cool though, and Tessa's niece's (Lulu and Tillie) redefine cute.  I'm ready for some relaxin'
