the best man won
Last night as Kip and I were watching the election coverage we were a bit miffed about the emphasis on this being the first African American president. Yes we get that this is history being made here but I think that the media focusing so heavily on it dismisses the fact that he was the best man for the job and that America came out in record numbers to ensure that our future would be headed in a way that the majority of the people saw fit.
I don't think that 99% of those that voted for Obama gave a rat's ass if he was black, white, hispanic, asian......... He was simply the kind of man that we want to lead us in the next chapter of our history. Did you see those electoral numbers? 338 votes for Obama and 162 for McCain. That speaks volumes and I hope that it speaks for the kind of America that younger citizens are hoping to create.
I can only hope that Obama lives up to the expectations, that he will not waver from his convictions, and that we as a country do not fail ourselves.
