a/n:  HI LONG TIME NO UPDATE. No, I am not dead. Yes, I am still working on Kiss Off. But today is a very special day. First off, Lucifer mv was released. Second, today this story turns one year old. YAYYAYAY PARTY FAVORS! (I'm almost late to my own party. BUT IT'S AN HOUR TILL MIDNIGHT HERE. I MADE IT.)
this is officially the longest time I have ever spent dedicated to one fic, and it's thanks to all the amazing people who read it. SERIOUSLY GUYS. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR  EVERYTHING. ILY ALL. /cheesy moment.
I know this isn't much, but here, have a little bit of unbeta'd Minho and Key in science class Freshman year. This drabble doesn't have much to do with the actually story line of Kiss Off, but it does give a little background info on Minho and Key. I hope you like it. Look out for an update soon! :D

Kiss Off: One Year Anniversary Special

Once upon a time, Minho set his eighth grade science room on fire.

It had been an accident, kind of. He had his lighter and some sort of flammable substance and it got a little bit too close to his teachers state issued, non-fireproof desk. No big deal. And the teacher had it coming, anyway.

Unfortunately for little Minho, everyone else seemed to think this was a big deal and steered clear of him, thinking that at any moment he would light their clothes on fire. Minho didn’t mind, though, because he still had Onew and Onew had just laughed when he told him about it, and if Onew didn’t think it was a big deal, then it really and truly was not a big deal. (Even back then, Minho honestly believed that Onew knew everything there was to know about the world.)

Perhaps it was the fire starting incident in eighth grade that led to Minho’s “bad boy” reputation, but that infamous act was definitely what led to Key sending this text message to Jonghyun that first day of school the next year:

To which Jonghyun replied:

No. Just… no.

Against Jonghyun’s better judgment, Key deleted the text and played like he never got it in the first place, before sitting down in the empty chair right beside Minho. Tucking hair behind an ear, Key took a moment to look him over.

Minho looked just like any other reasonably attractive freshman. Bored, tired, and not much else. He had a pouty, pretty face, Key noticed, and maybe if he trimmed up his hair a bit and smiled he’d go from reasonably attractive to very attractive.

Unaware of Key and his current thought process, Minho slumped down in his seat, shuffling around in his pockets for his cigarettes. He pulled one out and a second later lit up, looking a lot more at ease now that there was a cigarette pursed between his lips.

Wrinkling his nose, Key was a bit put off. “Hey, you can’t smoke in here.” He decided to inform him, and Minho turned his head just a little bit to look at him.

“…Huh?”

Key practically beamed now that he had his attention. “Yeah, if you get caught you could get detention. And aren’t you a freshman?” That last question was tacked on mainly because Key just realized that Minho - who was probably like, fifteen or something-had just lit up in his third hour biology class.

Minho shrugged, breathing smoke out slowly and following it with his eyes, smiling at the question. “Class hasn’t started yet, and isn’t passing period usually used to prepare yourself for class? That’s what I’m doing.” Shaking his head, he glanced back at Key. “Yeah, I’m a freshman. You aren’t?”

Key looked slightly offended. “Uh, no.”

“…Then why are you in freshman biology?”

“Because I failed last year. Geez Minho, use your brain.”

Minho let his cigarette burn away between his fingertips, settling a glare on Key. “Um, have we met?”

Amused, Key leaned forward onto the desk, watching as the room slowly began to fill up as class was almost ready to start. “No. Trust me, you wouldn’t forget meeting me~!” He laughed, poking Minho on the nose and ignoring the other boys scowl.

“Then how the hell do you know my name?” He crushed his cigarette out on his desk, stuffing his hands back into his pockets.

Key shook his head. “Everyone knows your name. Or did you forget? You set your school on fire, didn’t you?” Turning his head to the side, Key noticed Minho tense up slightly.

“Oh. That. I didn’t set the school on fire, it was a desk.”

“Same thing.”

“No, it’s not.”

“..Okay, whatever, so maybe not entirely.”

“…”

“…”

“…So did, you do it on purpose?”

“Do you ever shut up?”

Minho was glaring again, and Key felt a little sorry, but not for very long before he waved away the question and his negative tone of voice. “I’m just curious! Don’t bite my head off, sheesh.”

Glancing up at the ceiling, Minho puffed his cheeks. Honestly, he had almost forgotten about his fire incident, and never once did he think that some random guy would remember his name because of that. “Aren’t you scared I’m going to light your hair on fire or something?” Minho asked, fingering the lighter in his pocket.

Key shook his head, smiling like they were the best of friends. “Noooo!”

“Hm, well, you should be.” The bell rang just as the rest of the students filed into the classroom and Minho stood up from his desk, pushing his chair back loudly as he slung his backpack over his shoulder, lighter in hand. He had a cigarette out a moment later, shoving past the teacher and into the hallway, leaving her flustered and not sure if she should yell at him for leaving without a pass or for smoking in the hallways, first.

Key watched him go, blinking, before pulling out his cellphone a second later.
