The weather outside is actually freezing! No joke! Yes, in Texas it really can happen! We can have days that fall below a balmy 60 degrees!
Mother Nature can really throw a curve ball at us here in the Lone Star State. Why, just yesterday I was bitching about how humid and hot it was all day (I was sweating throughout the whole day, here at home) and low and behold today is actually at 32 degree high. Go figure!
Today of all days I actually had to go into the office to work. I normally work at home for those who know, so this as you can imagine really chapped my sweet ass. So, in addition to waking up an hour and a half earlier than normal, I had the great pleasure of riding the fucking bus this morning. And, to punch it up a notch the bus I was waiting for did not show up. I had to wait an additional 25 minutes. Waiting, in the rain, with strong winds and a high of 32. No bench to sit on! So I was (as you can imagine) a big fucking bowl of sunshine this morning!
We had our company luncheon today at McCormick & Shmick's. I have no idea where they came from but they just built one by the pavilion a few blocks from my building. The food was good but I can't imagine eating there very often. They use cloth napkins and I eat from a trough. No, I kid. But, I never really go to fancy establishments because my budget does not permit so. We of course, walked there. And back. In the rain, blustery winds, and a high of 32 degrees.
I got to come home for lunch and continue out my day here. By the time I got home it was snowing in my neighborhood. Just a light flurry, nothing sticking to the ground. I got inside and unpeeled like a Ralph Lauren banana. I turned the heater on and turned on the news to see about all the excitement here in Hell about the snow. The news here is so lame. Every station alternated talking about the DTV change in February. You know, the one that they've been telling us about since 2000? Anyway, there are apparently millions of people who have not bought a new TV or converter box so today when they sent out a message to those who still ring a dinner bell for supper will get the message that they have to join us in the 21st century. This one guy had the balls to say he will not upgrade to DTV and if they make him he will be very, very angry. Well fuck-face you are going to have to be upgraded to DTV eventually or else go back to fireside chats on the radio of yester-year.
No channel would stay off the DTV thing so I changed from channel to channel. If they were not on commercial they were talking about DTV. Finally about 10 minutes before my lunch was over I found a channel that wasn't interviewing someone in a shed in the country about DTV, and saw the latest weather forcast.
Snow here in Texas is a big deal for us. We in southeast Texas, anyway, don't have any mountains. Just a vast plane of nothing. When the snow starts to fall and accumulate we go ape shit and have to go outside and frolic in the snow-dust! I took some pictures tonight of what has accumulated on my car since it started to snow again at about 6:00 PM tonight, my pictures are located below. The only other time it snowed here was Christmas Eve 4 years ago. If it weren't for the temperature I would think there was a plant explosion or something because snow in pergatory is not an every day occurance...
And finally, tonight is my turn to cook dinner. I haven't started yet and I really should get going on it. The problem is I don't like to make a mess, nor clean up a prior mess to start cooking. Paul went out for a little bit, so I'm taking some time to decompress from all the insane people who I deal with every day and the whole DTV melt-down happening across America. I was supposed to go to JR's place tonight but I decided since it is snowing outside, albeit dusting I still think its safe to stay indoors tonight and have a nice hot bowl of soup.
Tomorrow I'm working from home again. All is well. I will be in a sweater and sweat pants, along with a nice cashmere scarf I own and have never worn all day long. This weekend cannot come soon enough.
are a bit shaky, thats because I don't know where the tripod is at this time. The trailblazer is mine, the car is my crackhead neighbor downstairs. Have a safe and great evening.
