Work is such a love-hate thing. The autistic girl has been doing really well, but shes very focused on cutting her hair (by herself). Knowing this, there should not be scissors left in unlocked drawers. Apparently that is too difficult of a task for the supervisor because yesterday the autistic girl managed to open a drawer with me standing right next to her (shes quick) and grab a pair of scissors. Luckilly I was able to grab them out of her hand before she did anything, but I shouldn't be put in that position, and she shouldn't be tempted like that. We are always supposed to keep scissors locked up. This is the third time she's gotten ahold of some. The first two times, staff wasnt paying attention and scissors were just lying around. It's very frustrating that this is becoming such an issue.

Today was an even more frustrating day. P. (disliked supervisor) says B. (austistic girl) is going to the rec center. She concocts some plan that I'll drive the small car with B. and her partner (it would be too simple to just make me her partner), and then B. and her partner (a newish staff member) will ride in the big van back to the program with the participants not available for lunch. She made the situation so confusing that I had to clarify things a good 3 times before leaving the program. Poor B. was so focused on who she would be riding home with ("I'm riding home with you?") that she was very jittery at the rec, repeatedly wanting to go back to the program. I'm kicking myself for not responding to the cues and just bringing her back in the small car (against supervisors wishes) before she had a meltdown. I knew something was going to happen so I left my partner (very high functioning) and stayed with B. and hers. I took them over to a bench in front of the building, in time for her to start screaming. I escorted her out of the building before my big 400 pound black man coworker started barking at her and telling her to get in the van (I was going to drive her home), in the front seat no less. Someone left a glass of fruit punch in the front seat which she threw at the guy. I told him to let go of her so I could grab her and he finally backed off. I grabbed her (and got my first officially connected punch in the face, although surprisingly weak lol) and took her in the back seat, and we went back to the program. By the time we were in back she had calmed down, and I only made her stay out in the QR for about 15 minutes before returning to the program. She was fine the rest of the evening, but this just made me so mad. She was just set up for failure. I tell P. till I'm blue in the face to let me take her in a separate car incase she needs to go back early...she cant stand being there as long as the guys. I hate to think of what could have happened if I wasn't there with her partner. She could have attacked some kid, or something. It makes me so fucking mad, whatever my supervisors reasoning is...she needs to use her fucking head and not put new staff in that position. I guess today sort of proved my point, and the only thing I feel I am personally at fault for is not overstepping the commands and driving her back to the program when she first started to get edgy. Live and learn, I guess.

Goodnight,
