I went to the food court at Clackamas Town Center the other day, and to my surprise and delight, those god awful merry-go-rounds and train rides were gone. They took out the ice rink a few years ago (I'm still mourning) and put in the most annoying thing they possibly could have: noisy rides with screaming kids. You just couldn't sit at that food court any more without getting a splitting headache. But huzzah! It's finally gone. I got my drink, noticed the rides were gone, and actually said out loud, "Oh, sweet deliverance!" And then I sat down, drank my beverage and read my book in relative quiet until I had to walk to work. It was lovely.

I'm so glad I get the Outdoor Life Network, but I'm worried that I may not be seeing hockey in high def. The site says, "Additional details about the OLN television schedule, hockey commentators, HDTV and VOD schedules will be released as details become available." So I guess it's still an option. I'm thinking we're going to have to get that Center Ice thingie. I just hope that ESPN doesn't ignore hockey too much more now that their network won't be airing hockey. I always thought that ESPN at least tried to sort of promote hockey since it was in their interest, but now they don't have a reason to do so. But they had already canceled NHL2nite. I don't know.

And apparently OLN's first televised NHL game will be Rangers-Flyers, which should be quite a laugh. The Flyers are so going to stomp on the Rangers. Too bad I hate the Flyers so much.

I'm looking at OLN's lineup this evening. Here it is:

Ducks Unlimited TV
Bill Dance Outdoors
Fly Fishing the World
The Best & Worst of Tred Barta
Buckmasters
Cabela's Outfitters Journal
Benelli's American Safari

Wow, this should be interesting. This lineup is something less than stellar, so I'm assuming that the NHL will be OLN's shining jewel and that they will give it the love and attention that it so rightly deserves. Is OLN the whitest network ever? yikes

tv will rot your brain, hockey
