Chicken Legs Reprise
What’s Amanda’s favourite Macross n’ Robotech mecha? Well, normally I’d choose whatever machine associated with my favourite characters looked the best, but you and I both know that human-friendly male Zentraedi don’t have signature mecha.
I'm fond of digitigrade legs, so mebbe I could have picked the Battlepods (Regults), but I think the most appealing design is actually the Officer’s Pod (a.k.a. the Glaug), even though it’s associated with--pfeh--Khyron (or Kamjin, whatever; they’re anachronistic douches in any language). I don’t know, I just like the way it looks.
Which is a problem because the old Matchbox version of this thing is so hard to find, and there’s no pretty new Revoltech version to compensate. I saw a loose Officer’s Pod in a vintage toy shop a few months ago, but the owner wanted $279.00 CAD for it! (Bastard)
I don’t know if I’ll ever find it at a price that’s okay enough for me to justify a buy, given the rarity, and the fact that I just know after a couple years I won’t be as hot for Robotech anymore (it happens with all my fandoms) and less concerned about getting The Stuff. And I can't take a big boy like that away with me to Grad School.
Still, a very nice walker mech...thing. Go Glaug!
