While I truly adore the stories this fandom supplies me with, one of the strongest running similarities between them is that Arthur is almost always portrayed as the jerk, or the one that makes a mistake in his and Eames’ relationship. It’s like he got stamped with this semi-emotionally abusive tag that he just can’t shake off. But I don’t think that this is true. I think that someone that would willingly work with a man even after that man’s subconscious shot them in the kneecap has to have some pretty strong beliefs about loyalty and watching out for the people he cares for ( ... )

I don't want to point out any stories in case the author gets upset by it, and I truly didn't post this to upset anyone. But if you look, you'll notice that in a growing number of stories, Arthur pines after Eames but pushes him away for no reason, and is thought of as a jerk because of that. Or he acts like Eames is an idiot, which has some canon backing, but could be attributed to snipping which they both do, but only Eames is pardoned for. Or he underestimates Eames in some other way. Just a lot of little things you'll find if you pay attention.

I'm an author of a story that probably meets that criteria, and I'm kind of sad if my Arthur comes off as a jerk, I never intended that. I figured that it would be clear that he doesn't keep pushing Eames away for no reason, that he's emotionally unavailable *because* he's been hurt. But this got me thinking that maybe that's just in my head, and I didn't manage to write it into the fic. :/

This isn't any sort of attack BTW, and I don't mean to come across whiny and hurt. You just made me think, is all, and that's good. I hope this prompt gets filled. :)

Robert is five and really likes the color red, and his mommy's lipstick is very bright red, and it's shiny. He smears it on the window of her vanity one or two times, and then when he realizes it takes a long time to clean off, stops. But he still wants to see that color, so he starts testing it on his skin, just his hand. He marvels at the way it's so soft and goes on so easily ( ... )

dear anon,

While I promised to fill this within 24 hours, it seems that your beautifully simple prompt has transformed into an entire world in my head. As such, it's going to take quite a while for me to write.

As such, I -will- write you a simple little drabble very shortly, but I really want to get the timeline for this monster-sized fic (possible bigbang? Dear gods, I'm so screwed...) down first.

So tl;dr - please be patient, it's coming I promise!
