Susan was a bit distracted today, and though she'd never admit it, a bit jumpy. It was nerves, mostly. For someone who generally didn't get nervous, it did get distracting.
She'd extended an invitation to her grandfather for the coming weekend. She didn't know why. She hardly knew him, really, and she was still coming to grips with what everything meant now. He'd just seemed like he meant that she would always have a home... there, and he was the only family she had left, and she did barely know him. It had seemed like a good idea at the time, but she hadn't gotten word about whether or not he was coming, and the longer she waited, the more time she had to worry. Was the rat going to show up again to tell her either way? What if he came and he scared everyone? Would anyone else even see him, or would she be that girl walking around all weekend and trying to introduce people to her invisible granddad?
Thoughts like these were why when she went back to her room after class, she entirely forgot the door existed and walked straight through the wall instead.
And then realized.
So apparently that was going to keep happening.
