I'd love to get into sewing. My mom has a husqvarna and I'd like get one of those if I were to ever get a sewing machine. But that is down on my list past getting a laptop and a Canon Rebel, so chances are I wouldn't be getting it anytime soon. On top of that, I really have no place in my apartment at this point to put it. I had a similar problem with a customer recently. She came in swearing up and down that she had her art framed at my location about 3 or 4 years ago and wanted us to replace the frame -- free of charge. I looked at the frame and it was completely unfamiliar to me. I told the woman that I had been working for the company for 7 years and I had never seen that frame in the seven years that I worked for the company. I gave her a discount on her order, but she continued to grumble as she paid for the order. When I went to take it apart, I found that the frame still had its order tag on it -- from September of 1996! So, yeah, she got it done 3 or 4 years ago, then apparently hit a wormhole that she traveled through that wrote off a couple of minutes for her and 8 years for the rest of us. I told my staff & my boss about the tag and that if she complained about it at pick up, we'd show her the tag and tell her that there was no #$%#ing way we were going to give her that frame for free & to have a nice day. It amazes me the lengths people will go to try to get something for free.
If you go out a couple of weeks early before ComiCon (which I've been trying to persuade the boyfriend to go to for the last several years), there's always AX (Anime Expo) up in Los Angeles. We've gone to for several years, to the point where I've grown disenchanted with it. If you haven't seen a ton of anime (like me), it's a great experience to be exposed to a lot of different anime series. The downsides are trying to get into any special events ranges from difficult to impossible. There's always the general complaint that AX lacks crowd control, but from what I've heard about a lot of big conventions, it's more of an issue of demand exceeding supply.
Wikitravel was a huge help for me before I went to Seattle. Whoever has added to that page has supplied lots of excellent information. There's an excellent park reference. The only one not on there that I would recommend is Weowna Beach County Park & the only reason why it's not on the list is because it is in Bellevue & not Seattle. Washington Park Arboretum was amazing & I would have loved to have spent more time there. There's a Japanese garden there that you can get into for $5. If you'd like to see a Japanese garden without the donation, there's Kubota Garden in South Seattle. If I have a chance to go again, I figure I'll probably splurge and take one of the Show Me Seattle Tours. All the reviews I've read said that the tour is fantastic. As for other spots along the West Coast, I've read that the Portland Rose Gardens are a beautiful place to visit in August, that the roses are in full bloom then. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to visit there yet -- but it's on my to do vacation list. As far as food goes, there is a great breakfast chain out there called the Original Pancake House. If you like apple pancakes, you'll love this place.
I've got another side story going, thinking about another on top of that as well as trying to hammer out the next chapter. Trying to make things realistic and not making the characters one dimensional in this part is been a hard spot for me to tackle. Thank you for your patience, I really do appreciate it.
Husqvarnas are nice, albeit funny sounding. That's one of the few brands that we sell and I love playing on them.
I'm going for a laptop first and foremost before the year is out. I need something really portable in the coming days.
I'm not a huge anime fan, so I don't think I'd really dig AX. I have heard about it and it sounds like it would be fun, if you like anime. alas I have like three that I've watched in my entire life.
All of those sites are totally going on the list of places we need to visit! I love Japanese anything really and gardens and outdoors places. Thanks for the recs :)
Realistic is ALWAYS a good thing, lol. Take your time. We're not going anywhere :)
