Why is it so difficult to find simple electronic equipment these days? I have just re-purchased the fridge that I had to cancel pending the attentions of our local electrician to provide somewhere legal to plug it in. No real problem with that - though I may have to look for a spare shelf since the three supplied are not nearly enough.
We had a look round Currys TV section while we were there. We need to replace our 36" old analogue set with a new slimline one. For some reason modern TVs only come in 40" (which is the size of our whole TV set - but probably a bit overwhelming for the front room) or 32" - which is much smaller than we're used to. And we do not want a 3D screen - but rather hoped that the high end tech for HD and good picture quality (we have given up on sound) would also be available in the 2D versions. But it seems not. One must either pay ££££ for stuff one does not want, or £££ for stuff which doesn't meet the requirements of what one already has. (Scart sockets, for example - we run two recording devices through the scarts on the current TV - but will have to get a splitter if we want to do this with a new one.)
And then I was looking for a video camcorder. Just something to shoot at agility and show-jumping competitions - so need something that can cope with dust and rain, and low-light and fast action. Ironically the advice form the specialist sites is to forget a dedicated camcorder and buy an i-phone.
I despair.
