I have just had a yelling match with lil_shepherd about the use of in-post 'banner' codes to promote coms. I was going to suggest that Eightsquared (next year's Eastercon) might find it useful to have someone code a banner for members/supporters to put on their blogs with a link to either the Eightsquared site, or the eightsquaredcon.
But it seems that this useful piece of publicity is something that is confined to Harry Potter fandom. And in any case "what use is that when it just goes down the F-list and is gone in a couple of hours?"
