As y'all know, we're moving in a month, so today since it's only a hundred and something degrees out, my sweetheart and I decided to tackle the monster bookshelf in the basement. This is three segments wide and five shelves high on each segment, lines the entire wall, and was packed with books and magazines and whatnot. We were going through it to decide what books to keep, which ones to give away. The usual. Some of my favorite books from H's childhood were down there, on the shelf closest to the floor so when my kid was little we could reach them easily.
Somewhere along the line, one or more of the cats peed against all the books on the bottom shelf on two of the segments. We had to recycle them all away. Of course, there went some of the favorites and the ones I most wanted to keep, including my entire collection of Tintin, all the Disney picture books, all the now-out-of-print maze books. It's not the end of the world, it's just frustrating.
Since there's always a silver lining to every dark cloud... on the flip side, at least the task is done! And we decided not to bring the shelving units with us, because cheap laminate+cat pee=unrecoverable furnishing issues and increased likelihood of repeat peeing performances. So that's one less thing to move!
I know I've been scarce here. Paige and I have been working on I Need My Fics, and the fandom nominations are flying in for that. I'm genuinely thrilled by this development. I'm not sure if it's because we're running it at AO3 or because I posted to
fandomcalendar at the right time or if people are just ripe for yet another gift fic exchange, but whatever it is, we have activity. It's lovely. If you're interested in checking out the fandoms that have been nominated so far, you can find the list
right here on AO3.
How are all of you this weekend? I haven't even had a chance to check in with twitter very much lately, so if you posted anything important over there, it's likely I didn't see it.
This entry's
