Woke up at 4:45 am today, got picked up at 5:20, was at the office a little before six, searched for duct tape, was at my polling location 6:00am ish. Stood outside. In the freezing cold. For 14 hours straight, telling voters to vote yes. Talked to maybe 3/5 of the voters at my polling location, maybe 1/4, because I was ridiculously proactive and comfortable to with talking to voters. Shall we have the results?
62% of Kalamazoo voted YES on 1856 for fairness and equality. SIXTY TWO!
WE WON! OH MY FUCKING GOD!
This means the campaign is over, and there are millions of people whom I'll miss, but I'll have time to exist online, to do homeowork, to think about writing something.
In any case, no one in Klamazoo can now be fired, evicted, or denied access to public accommodations solely because they are gay or transgender. Thank you SO much to everyone who listened to me about this, who posted about it, who talked about it, who voted on it, who donated for it, and who volunteered or worked for it. I love you all to bits. As an orginization, we are INCREDIBLE. Oh my god.
I', exhausted, but hyped up. I got into a bar! Yay! Haha...
No clue how things look for Maine or Washington, or the polls in any of you guys' places--give me information on politics and voting. The campaign took over my life, and possibly I've been more interested in it than bandom as of late.
So, uh. Yes! Hurrah! I love you all! WE VOTED YES! YES WE DID, FUCKIN ACE! <33333
