Humanity is a most intriguing concept, but also bizzarre and confusing.

The things we find out about ourselves often times comes as a result of our interactions with other people. Think about it: What would we know about ourselves, if we spent our entire existence without ever interacting with anybody else? So our connections with others provide us with much more than just knowledge of pain/love/hate/fear.

As far as realizing that you act differently around others...I myself often times act differently depending on who I am with. I think the answers result mostly on the status of one's own comfort level as far as what they're willing to do as far as acting or talking, humour, etc.

You ask "Why can't I be myself with these people?" or "Am I being myself with myself?" ... I think the answer is that you *are* being yourself. Being yourself does not necessarily mean acting consistently the same no matter the social situation.

And do not let this newfound pondering of things be considered a threat to your beliefs. Moreover, allow it to be a potential for an evolution/expansion of your beliefs. There is no harm in letting you belive in change or evolve as you grow older.
