I'm really sleepy and the internet is wonky in my apartment but I feel compelled to post anyway. I just made some coffee earlier that I was going to have with my grilled cheese w/tomato dinner but I had some honey beer instead. So I'm drinking my coffee now and it's good but it hasn't kicked in yet. Or maybe it has, as I'm starting to get rambly.
So Portland was really fantastic. I didn't have such a great time the first time I went in 2002 but this time was so much better. I got to meet
dottedcircles &
eyememine and they were the most gracious hosts. I adore both of them very much. I also got to see some fantastic zine friends including
_nicholeanne,
thinkbettersick,
Jenny San Diego,
daisygrl, & more that I'm probably forgetting. The zine symposium was a success & all around everything was just good.
The drive up with
tablesalt &
Eric was good - we had a lot of fun and we all got along really well together. I couldn't ask for better friends. There are a ton of photos from our trip
here.
dottedcircles came home with us and spent almost two weeks in Southern California. I'm really glad I got to spend so much time with her but now it just makes me miss her pretty smile. She's really fucking great and beautiful and I'm glad I know her.
August in general was a really good/busy month.
love_adhesive moved into our apartment, I had a birthday party, went to Portland, spent a lot of time at the beach, and played with my cat a lot.
September has been pretty good so far too. I went to the beach last weekend with
love_adhesive and her little sisters, whom I adore. It was a lot of fun but I got sunburnt. Then later that night, Des & I went to our
hottie-friend-we've-known-forever's birthday party. I had a (somewhat abnormally) great time with old friends and probably had way too many drinks, but that's ok because I hardly drink anything anymore.
Tomorrow
love_adhesive & I are going to some shopping event in the morning and then later in the evening, we're going to the horror shorts program at the
Valley Film Festival. I'm excited.
My job has been really stressful lately. They closed down a department in one of our other offices in Wisconsin and brought all the work over to our department in LA. My department is also down a person and our higher ups won't let my manager fill it nor are we getting paid more for the added work. It's kind of annoying. I'm going to look for another job soon - depending on if I go to New Orleans for Halloween or not.
Our apartment has termites. I wrote a letter to the complex owner and someone is coming to spray for them next week. Des & I are going to have to get our cats out of here for the day which is going to be kind of annoying but totally worth it. Also, we're supposed to get a new stove soon - our oven doesn't work - and we're both really excited about being able to bake again! :)
You should recommend you're favorite baking recipe, please. Or Netflix movie. Or anything. Just say hi.
