Beast was furious. He was mad, the servants had long since left running scared as furniture flew and-
The door banged open, Belle storming in, her hair wild in disarray as she carried a wailing twitching bundle. Which she marched right up to him and put in his hands.
"-You- made him cry." She snapped. "-You- fix it. -You- get him to STOP."
And as regal as a Queen in her Peasant clothing, back straight and head held high, she walked back out again.
He stared at the door. The Nursery that Belle and Jack were staying in was all the way on the other side of the castle. There was no way-
Jack screamed in his ear, a small loud red-faced bundle of unrelenting fury. He quickly made shushing sounds, bouncing the baby slightly in his hands, overly aware of how sharp his claws were.
It didn't work.
"Be quiet!" He snapped. Jack hiccupped, then started on a fresh set of screams.
Beast glared. "Shut up!"
Jack yowled.
"I COMMAND YOU TO-"
Jack screamed louder, almost drowning out Beast's roar.
Beast wracked his brain, trying to remember how Belle and the servants did it. He had seen her carrying Jack over her shoulder as she walked around the room, maybe that would do it?
He tried it, standing up on his legs as Jack screamed in his ear, grabbing at his fur and pulling. "Shhh.... shhh..." He tried, walking in circles around the room. Jack hiccuped a few times, his shrieks fading in volume until they were just soft whimpering noises as the baby curled up to cuddle against him.
The thought passed through his mind that he was supposed to be the Master of this castle. He had servants to do this sort of thing for him. Why did he have to soothe screaming child?
-Because his shouts had alarmed this child, making him cry, he remembered.
And for the life of him, looking at the miserable little bundle on his shoulder, he couldn't recall what he had been furious about in the first place.
