Oscars

So my "snow day" turned out pretty relaxing. I got back in bed for a little while, and then I hung out with Kristina for most of the day. We went to the Target shopping center, went for a walk in the park, and watched Star Wars Episode 3. So it was all pretty simple but very nice to have a day off.

I found out the Academy Award Nominations this morning and was very excited to find that "Pan's Labyrinth" received six nominations; it's definately my Oscar favorite. It is emotional, enchanting, powerful, eerie, and positively brilliant. It deserves to be greatly awarded; not only is it the best-reviewed foreign film of the past year, but it is one of the best-reviewed MOVIES of the year, receiving an impressive 96% on the critical concesus at RottenTomatoes.com, putting it just under fellow Oscar-nominees "The Queen" (98%) and "Deliver Us From Evil" (100%), (but the latter is a documentary, so who cares about that anyway?!). "Pan's" nominations:
-Best Foreign Film
-Best Make-up
-Best Cinematography
-Best Original Score
-Best Art Direction
-Best Original Screenplay
Good Luck, Guillermo Del Toro. Whether your movie wins what it deserves or not, your artistic work is a fantastic triumph. If it doesn't at least win Best Foreign Film, then we know for sure that the Academy is an Academy of morons.
