Event - Winter Court
While snow blanketed the Imperial City, it seemed entirely cosmetic amidst the warm and festive air. The great crystal upon which the city lay glimmered with a pale blue light, the streets magically warmed and unclogged by snow. Children ran and played in the snow and streamers and banners in bright colors adorned the buildings.
The Capitol itself was decorated with the livery of the various kingdoms, their banners flying proudly in the wind. Gracious attendants were around to greet the arrivals, showing them to their Imperial Staterooms and conscientiously leaving various sweetmeats and cushions to ensure the dignitaries were comfortable.
The Imperial rooms were spacious, even luxurious for some of those of higher rank. The first meeting of Winter Court was not scheduled for later in the day, giving the visitors a chance to relax, unwind, take in the beauty of the Imperial City, and, hopefully, be more at peace for the coming discussion.
[Winter Court has now begun, your characters are encouraged to make their way to the Capitol and partake in the festivities. As it is also a festival, feel free to assume all sorts of entertainments such as theater troupes, fair food, and even some tests of might, skill and magic. There will be a log going up a bit later today for the actual council, and a few others as well over the course of Winter Court.
The Court lasts about a week. PCs are free to come and go by waypoint, and those who are not attending the actual council can just enjoy the festivities. Those who are, however, should tag to the Council logs when they go up, although they will have plenty of time to partake in the festivities as well.
Remember, while in the Imperial City, the Emperor's Peace is in effect. If you want to try to kill each other outside of a duel sanctioned and overseen by a Magistrate or Courtier, I highly suggest doing so elsewhere - the Imperial Guardsmen do not take kindly to breaking the Emperor's peace.
