when that man smiles he is crying on the inside
Hours have passed since Yoochun asked Junsu out, and it was already evening. Most students were already at their homes doing their own stuffs, while some, being the rebellious teenagers they were with their fake IDs and young minds, went to clubs to drink, party and have fun; not minding the fact that they still have classes the next day.
In the kitchen that was painted in light grey and white; with the floor covered by black tiles, Junsu sat at the chair placed in front of the divider, his thoughts flying back to what had happened earlier at school. He kept on wondering why Changmin despised Yoochun even though the latter was a person with good nature.
He sighed. Changmin never liked people going near me. Maybe he's jealous, that was the only answer that kept running on his mind.
Shaking his head to rid off the impossible thoughts, he stood up to get himself a cup of water. His mind then telling him that if his Mom was with him right now, everything would be alright. His Mom that always cared for him; the only person that listened to him apart from his brother.
Junsu's father died when he was still a toddler, leaving him fatherless and with his mother's care. The life was fine, it was okay. He had his loving Mother with him and also his elder twin, what more could he ask for? But, alas, as he knew, fate was really a pain - his mother and brother left him on his exact birthdate, the fifteenth of December, when he was turning 15.
No one would ever predict that his mother and brother would suddenly die, both at a very young age, thirty-four and fourteen, so many of his relatives mourned. He remembered that day - he despised that day. He recalled preparing the decorations at their house while his mother and brother brought the ingredients needed for cooking. Sadly, his mother had a sudden attack (due to her illness) and was unable to handle the wheel. His brother had no knowledge about driving, so it all came to death. That day, he decided to not celebrate his birthday anymore and just wallow himself in misery. He was alone, that's it. What more could he ask for?
Junsu was left under his aunt's care the following days which he appreciated the most. When he started his high school years, he decided to start living an independent life, his aunt sending him enough allowance a month to sustain his needs. He was grateful, really. But then again, he would be more happier if his family was still complete.
Really, who doesn't?
But what can we do? We can't get everything we want in a snap of a finger. It's either we work very hard for it or get nothing at all. It's the meaning of life. Without it, life would be dull and boring.
Soon, a mobile phone rang with HOT's Candy leaving Junsu shocked by the sudden intrusion. He was woken up from his reverie.
“Who would call me at this hour?” Junsu asked himself. It was already 10 in the evening, why would someone call him?
He grabbed his phone that was placed on the couch in the living room and went upstairs to his room. He played with the tips of his hair as a habit and answered the call without looking at the Caller ID.
“Hello?” he asked as he sat on his bed, his back leaning on the headrest.
“Hey,” the all-too-familiar voice replied. Junsu's breathing stopped as he realized who the caller was. His cheeks burned a bright shade of pink and he started to fidget.
“Y-yoochun,” he breathe, “H-how did you ... ?”
“Get your number, yes?” Yoochun answered for him before chuckling. “I asked people from the school. You're quite popular, you know? You are our soccer star, after all.”
Junsu bit his lips and crossed his legs. He stammered, “Yeah.”
A pregnant silence filled after, only their breaths and small shufflings could be heard.
“...Su?” Yoochun voiced, breaking the awkward silence that made his boyfriend fidgety.
“Yeah?”
“Want to meet with my friends tomorrow? You know, to introduce you … or something.” Yoochun coughed on the other line, hoping to decrease the awkwardness.
“Uhm, sure. But why the urgency, Chunnie?” Junsu couldn't hide the grin that was itching to come out when he created the new nickname for his--wait for it--first boyfriend.
“Hmm,” Yoochun sang, it was obvious that he was happy on the other line too. “I just want to.” He laughed, Junsu following suit.
Yoochun was nice, Junsu thought. He isn't like what Changmin said he was - fake and despicable. A jerk. Yoochun will give Junsu the happiness that he was waiting for a very long time. Yoochun will make him alive again, as if his family never left him alone.
He believed in that, but why does it seem that everything was not in its rightful place?

The day went fine. Yoochun introduced Junsu to his friends and they were all happy - his friends were happy for Yoochun since it looked like his relationship with his current boyfriend would last longer than his usual flings. Well, that's what they thought, but no one will ever know. Junsu smiled all day, and Yoochun couldn't stop himself from being hyper too.
Junsu, to him, was like the sun - energizing and bright. He loved to do anything that he was able to. He also loved to smile all day. It was nice to have a change in Yoochun's life, and that change was Kim Junsu.
Though the sun is an essential part of everyone's lives, it wasn't for Yoochun. All his life, Yoochun was described as the moon. He was quiet and reserved; an enigma. He smiled when he wanted to, frowned whenever he liked. No one understood why, and no one wanted to know. To say that Yoochun didn't care was an understatement. As long as his status was high and he lived a normal life, everything was fine. Everything was okay. He didn't need a perfect life. He didn't need anything more. Well that is before someone came into his life.
He just turned a teen back then, at the young age of thirteen, when he met this person.
His life was a routine - waking up, going to school, go back home, eat, sleep. There wasn't really much anything to boast in Yoochun's life; neither was he a playboy back then. He was just a normal kid living his normal cycle called life.
But this person changed it. Yoochun became happier when he was with this person. He was able to discover a lot of new things and was able to try new stuffs that he never thought he would. He loved this man. And this man eventually became his life, his everything.
They spent their time together. Though not knowing what real love is at their young ages, they had a relationship. They said they both loved each other; both made each happier everyday, so it turned out to be like that.
Turn of events aren't inevitable in this life, though. No one is exempted. When life and fate starts to became a blessing for you, it will suddenly shatter your heart with unpredictable events. Yoochun wishes to not remember anything of it. He doesn't. Not when both of their families have no idea of their relationship; not if no one knew about them. Most especially, not if that certain day was when they're supposed to meet the other's parents. But life isn't what you expect to be; it moves in mysterious ways.
But Yoochun didn't care. He was there when he saw his lover died. He was there.
...He was there.
Everything was shut off after that. Happiness? Who cared. Yoochun went back to his daily routine - waking up, going to school, go back home, eat, sleep. But he added a new one, forgetting his past love. He did this by having lots of flings; by getting laid with anyone; by playing with others' feelings; by not caring at all.
Yoochun wanted to forget everything. He did. But when he caught a glimpse of Kim Junsu, maybe, just maybe--he'll have a break.
After all, memories … they're supposed to be cherished, don't they?
A/N: Still remember me, hehe.
